Sometimes when I tell people that I’m a photographer, they Say:
“Oh, I don’t look good in photographs!”
I say:
“I’m not sure about that - let’s do something different because I see a true beauty in you”.
Consistently…
My clients tell me that they are deeply moved by the images of themselves.
They tell me that I’ve managed to deeply capture their essence - the “who-they-are” at their core - and this becomes a great liberating feeling.
The photo shoot winds up giving clients the opportunity to embrace a greater sense of self love and appreciation for how they show up in this world.
As a result, they walk away from the session feeling far more radiant - with a boosted confidence to BE who they truly are!
if you’re thinking about how you do NOT want your photo taken…
…then THIS is the very reason you NEED to have your photo taken!
My photo shoots can be very therapeutic.
They stop you from telling yourself all the negative and judgmental things you tell yourself.
You’ll to enjoy a new lens (literally) on who you are. You will see yourself in a different light.
What I’ve noticed:
When I’m in connection with my sitter during a photo shoot, the person RADIATES.
As a result, I find myself radiating too.
I call this “The Art of Connection.”
It is a mutual and often exhilarating to experience - and gives me the goosebumps when we work together!
For this reason…
I especially love to work with people who might not feel fully recognized, seen or heard - people who have often felt underserved or undervalued.
I then use my camera to shine a loving light upon these people - so they can more fully see themselves in the best possible light.
In fact, after a photo shoot, nearly every client tells me how they felt as if they’ve been seen for the first time - in a long time.
For example…
My client Libby said those exact words - after her photo shoot.
Libby had been married for many years to a husband who was forceful and oppressive.
Thankfully Libby found the courage to finally step away from this relationship - and set up a new life for herself - in a new beautiful, artful home.
This home became a testament to who she truly was.
So we staged a photo shoot for Libby in her home.
She wore a range of clothes which made her feel powerful, liberated and alive.
Libby had been subjected to so much oppression for so long - and now she was free to express herself however she wanted.
The photo shoot became a way to celebrate her new found freedom and transformation.
I felt SO honored being with her and capturing her true essence.
So, if you’re feeling nervous to get portrait photos taken of yourself…
I encourage you to move through this discomfort and anxiety.
There’s great joy and abundant self love waiting for you on the other side - along with a jam-packed digital folder of artful photos of yourself.
