60 PLUS PORTRAITS

If you follow my @women.60.plus on Instagram, then you know I love to photograph women and men over 60.

Unfortunately this is a group of people who tend to be forgotten and not seen.

I started my 60+ photography for a few reasons.

I wanted to focus on a group of people who I felt were under-represented, under-served, under-recognized.

I felt upset that society (and in particular, Western Society) tends to focus on the beautiful, younger population.

I wanted to fight back - by fully representing the beauty of the older population.

My images of older people are especially important to me because I - as an older woman - don’t want to be invisible to the outside world.

And I personally fully recognize how there’s a power in having gathered 60+ years of experience on this planet.

As an over 60 person myself, there’s a sense of mutuality when I photograph older people.

“Thank you, this experience has touched parts of my soul that I had not yet discovered.”

I am inspired to continue this revealing and rewarding work in mutual connections with these extraordinary 60+ people - both women and men.
